Volunteers serve an invaluable role at LexArts!
Most arts organizations could not operate without the assistance of their generous volunteers. Your time and energy not only offers valuable skills and keeps cost low, but also ensures that more money is put back into the community towards quality performances and events.
Interested in joining us?
We have many opportunities for new volunteers. Whether your interest lies in theatre, music, dance, or art there is a way for you to get involved. Some of our upcoming volunteer opportunities include:
- attend a show for free by ushering or greeting guests
- work behind the scenes at the Gallery Hop
- assist the planning team for our upcoming 40th Anniversary Celebration

Ushering at the Downtown Arts Center
Get in the act by being a part of the "front-of-house" staff...and see a show for free!
TICKET TAKER
Welcome and greet guests, tear tickets, smile! Ticket takers may also stuff programs, answer questions and provide customer service.
Time commitment: 1 hour prior to show
DOOR USHER
Welcome and greet guests, check tickets, hand out programs and show guests to seats. Door ushers may also stuff programs, answer questions and provide customer service
Time commitment: 1 hour prior to show

Gallery Hop
Get in the act at Lexington's liveliest downtown art event!
HOP PREP
Help set up artwork, distribute Gallery Hop brochures, and get a special preview of new Hop exhibitions. (May require some lifting)
Time commitment: 4 hours one week prior to Hop
HOP GREETER
Mingle with 'Hoppers', serve refreshments, and conduct surveys at the various sites in and around downtown.
Time commitment: 4 hours the day of Hop
Office/Admin
Get in the act and get to know your friendly LexArts Staff!
Administrators need love, too. Volunteers are needed to assist with direct mail campaigns and manage archival materials. Administrative volunteers also have opportunities to assist and attend special events throughout the year.
Time commitment: 2-4 hours per week
