LexArts Grants

How to Apply for LexArts Grants

Organizations wishing to apply for either General Operating Support (GOS) Grants or Community Arts Development (CAD) Grants should review carefully the Eligibility and Criteria for Funding prior to submitting an application.

Once the organization has determined which grant to apply for, it should review the application guidelines and the application itself.

Questions should be addressed to Nathan Zamarron, Community Arts Manager, at 859.255.2951 or nzamarron@lexarts.org.

General Operating Support (GOS) Grants

General Operating Support Grants provide unrestricted funds to arts organizations that demonstrate strong arts mission fulfillment, fiscal responsibility, sound management and operate on a year-round basis.

For the first time, LexArts will be providing GOS support at two levels: GOS I and GOS II, thus expanding the number of nonprofit arts groups eligible to apply for general operating support. GOS I Grants of $25,000 or higher will be made to Lexington’s largest and most-established arts organizations. GOS II grants – ranging from $2,500 to $25,000 – will support growing and mid-sized arts organizations that previously were eligible only for Community Arts Grants.

The application for Fiscal Year 2013 will be posted on March 14, 2012.

Applications will be due April 13, 2012.

Review Process: A public review of the GOS applications will be held on Monday, May 22, 2012 at ArtsPlace.

Community Arts Development (CAD) Grants

The grant review process is very competitive. Successful applicants will most likely be those providing the greatest community impact. Emphasis will be placed on projects and programs that provide paid opportunities for professional artists.

Community Arts Development Grants are made on a competitive basis in two award categories: program and project support. Prospective applicants should review the Eligibility and Criteria for Funding information to determine whether to apply for a CAD Program Grant (which average $7,360) or a CAD Project Grant (which average $1,775).  CAD Grants have been awarded to a wide variety of nonprofit arts and cultural organizations, large and small, established and emerging.

After determining which grant best suits your needs, read through the guidelines for that Grant.

Applications and Guidelines for FY13 will be posted to the LexArts website on March 14, 2012.

First-time applicants for a CAD Grant must attend the LexArts Grant Writing Workshop on Tuesday, March 27, 2011 at 5:30 pm at ArtsPlace

The application deadline for projects and programs occurring between July 1, 2012 and December 31, 2012 is Friday, April 13, 2012 at 4 pm.

Review Process: A public review of the CAD Grant applications will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2012 at the Central Library.
