VISION STATEMENT LexArts will be a catalyst for creating a progressive and innovative community inspired by the arts. MISSION STATEMENT LexArts promotes high quality arts experiences for the benefit of all the people of Central Kentucky through funding, advocacy, technical assistance, communication and programming initiatives. ABOUT LEXARTS LexArts is Greater Lexington’s premier cultural development, advocacy and fund-raising organization. Its programs are designed to provide the resources necessary to ensure high quality arts and cultural offerings for Lexington’s citizens and visitors as a means of enhancing the quality of life in the region. As both the area Arts Council and Arts Fund, LexArts provides a wide range of programs and services designed to integrate the arts into our daily lives including Dynamic Doors, Gallery Hop, ArtScene and Arts Showcase Weekend. LexArts' President & CEO and Board members work closely with community leaders and local and state officials concerning public funding and cultural facilities. Through its annual Campaign for the Arts, LexArts has raised millions of dollars in support of local arts and distributes general operating support to its Beneficiary organizations, as well as offering competitive special project and community development grants to other arts organizations in the area. LexArts operates two facilities in downtown Lexington, ArtsPlace and the Downtown Arts Center -- providing high quality performance space, galleries, rehearsal space and office space for nonprofit arts organizations. At these locations, LexArts organizes visual art exhibitions and performances showcasing the region’s creative talent. Formed in July 1989 by the merger of the Lexington Council of the Arts (founded in 1972) and the Fund for the Arts (founded in 1984), LexArts services arts organizations, artists, and educational institutions throughout Lexington and Central Kentucky. |
