The mission of the Bluegrass Printmakers' Cooperative is to be a thriving studio in the Lexington area for printmakers to work; create a dialogue about prints and art; expose and educate the community about prints and the printmaking process through classes, demonstrations, and workshops; and give printmakers an opportunity to exhibit and sell their work.

Located in the lower level of Artsplace, Room 1, 161 North Mill Street, the Bluegrass Printmakers' Cooperative has a press that accommodates work up to 22” x 30”. Currently, the studio is prepared for those who want to create woodcuts, linoleum prints, collagraphs and monoprints. We plan to offer facilities for etching soon.

MEMBERSHIP

There are two ways to be a member of BPC:

Printmaker for those who want to print you will need to submit your portfolio for review. Current members will look at portfolios at scheduled meetings. Upon acceptance, there is a one time commitment fee of $30. Then, dues each month are $20.

Friends of the Co-op – with your donation to BPC you will receive a 10% discount on prints and will receive our newsletter.

SUPPLIES

The studio provides the basics; a press with blankets, a drying rack as well as flat files for storage. Artists are responsible for all other supplies, (inks, paper towels, newsprint, etc.) We ask that you use non-toxic solvents for clean up. Vegetable oil and dish detergent work to clean up oil base ink and de-grease surfaces, respectively. Working in an atmosphere of mutual respect, members may store materials at the studio with the expectation that they will not be disturbed.
